My ex and I split up. We are fighting over the dog. Which is a year old. We both love her and want her. In Denver County, Since a dog is treated like property, does the person NOT being awarded the dog receive reimbursement for their interest, share and investment in the dog?

If this is a family law matter, then likely the funds used for purchase and care and feeding of the dog would have been joint funds. If Joint funds then the set-off would not likely be directly spelled out. If this is not a family law matter, i.e. jointly held property, then the one taking the dog would have to reimburse the other for his or her expenses.
