Finding a qualified general contractor to work on your home can be hard to come by. Not to mention, you have to worry about the threat of a mechanic’s lien hanging over your head if you and the contractor end up in a dispute about their charges.

For one of our clients, a home improvement project went sideways when he learned the money he paid upfront to the general contractor was not used to pay the subcontractors. Several subcontractors placed a mechanic’s lien on our client’s property, which puts a property in jeopardy of a foreclosure sale.

Our real estate litigation attorneys worked to have the lien removed, drawing the focus back to where it belongs: The general contractor.
