Contractors count on their clients to pay for the work they perform so, in turn, their employees get paid and the business stays afloat. So when a client doesn't hold up their end of the bargain, the contractor is forced to take legal action, many times by filing a mechanic's lien.
In this case, a roofing company reached out to our Litigation Team for help recovering money that a client simply refused to pay. Our attorneys helped this roofing company file an accurate and timely mechanic's lien and, later, enforce the lien. That entailed filing a lawsuit to foreclose on the lien.
As with most mechanic's liens, property owners don't want to face foreclosure, which was the case in this matter. As such, the opposing party paid our client the full amount they owed them, and they paid our client's attorney's fees.
