Court-ordered child custody arrangements can be changed later if needed. These orders can be modified before a child's 18th birthday if the circumstances warrant it.
Recently, we helped a client modify custody orders so she could have increased parenting time with her child. The mother had grown concerned over her child's academic struggles while under the father's care, noting tardiness and incomplete assignments.
We filed a motion to increase her parenting time and involved a court-appointed child and family investigator. The investigator’s report supported our client’s concerns. During the hearing, our attorneys presented a strong and winning case. In fact, the court awarded our client even more parenting time than the investigator had recommended.
