Parent’s Rights Trump Overreaching Grandparents

In certain circumstances, Colorado law allows grandparents to petition for visitation rights with their grandchildren. However, Colorado courts give a lot of weight to whether the parents want their children to have a relationship with their grandparents. 

In this case, our client's spouse had recently passed away. Soon after, the deceased spouse's parents filed visitation paperwork with the court. The grandparents wanted far more time with the children than our client was willing to allow.
