What happens if I hire an unlicensed contractor?

Many times, homeowners hire unlicensed contractors simply because it’s a small job. Maybe mini-handyman would be an unlicensed contractor. But, an unlicensed contractor, is that really damaging to a homeowner? Not entirely. But if the job is bigger, requiring permits to be pulled, requiring dealing with insurance, then probably ensuring that you have a licensed contractor will come into play a lot more heavily.
