HOW TO MOVE YOUR CASE ALONG DURING THE PANDEMIC
Hi everyone. Marlana Caruso here, and I’m a lead attorney with the family law division at Robinson & Henry.
If you’re frustrated with the recent COVID effects on the court system and any potential delays that it’s brought to your case, perhaps canceling of already set hearings, transfer in person meetings into a phone hearing, things of that nature, I just wanted to let you know that there are a few alternatives that may allow you to get resolution in your case without having to go through the formalized process of being in front of a judge.
Court Alternatives for Your Family Law Case
Not only do those include mediation options, which everyone is rather familiar with, but they also include things like appointment of special masters, private judges, mediators/arbitrators, the appointment of a parenting coordinator decision maker.
So some of these do take cooperation from the other party, but some of them don’t. Some of them can be appointed through a motion with the court.
So just things to consider if you’re looking for ways to still be able to resolve your case and perhaps avoid some of the delay that the COVID issue has caused to the dockets.
